From southern Italys Puglia region, this Rosso del Salento, crafeted from local Negroamaro and Malvasia grapes, is a great value. Firm and smooth, with strong hints of jammy red and black fruits, it is a traditional Mediterranean red with lots of character. It is deliciously fleshy and spicy on the palate, with mild tannins and a refined finish; a truly great wine. (February 2006) |
